  • Florida Passes Sweeping Tort Reform - Is this an end to Florida's Judicial Hellhole?
    03/25/2023

Effective March 24, 2023, the litigation landscape in Florida changed.  Tort Reform has come to Florida with the passage of House Bill 837 by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Desantis on March 24, 2023.  The reforms bring a welcome relief to defendants and their insurance carriers in Florida, include sweeping changes to the law on insurance bad faith, reducing the statute of limitations from four years to two years, changing Florida from a pure comparative negligence state to modified comparative negligence and many other essential changes to level the playing field and to create transparency in the litigation landscape.  Click here to see our Florida Tort Reform Newsletter for further discussion of the key points of Florida's Tort Reform.
